Auson Pure Balsam Turpentine
High grade, Pure Balsam Turpentine is a biodegradable solvent predominantly used to dilute pine tar and certain other substances. It is especially useful when applying pine tar for good penetration in the cooler temperatures of the shoulder seasons (Spring and Autumn), when heating that material can be less effective.
An old maritime recipe called "boat soup" was:
- 50% pine tar
- 30% boiled linseed oil
- 20% turpentine
Balsam Turpentine is a very effective cleaner and disinfectant and does not contain any water. It can also dissolve oil, grease, and other contaminants from the surface during cleaning.
